When you add a link to a LinkedIn post in Assembly, a link preview card automatically appears below your caption. This card includes a thumbnail image, title, and description pulled from the link’s metadata.
Assembly lets you customize this link preview - including changing the image, title, and description - and even choose whether or not the URL appears in your post text.
This helps you create cleaner, more on-brand LinkedIn posts while maintaining the functionality of the clickable link preview.
Steps:
When drafting a post, add a link directly into the post.
Once the link preview card appears below your caption, hover over it and click on Edit URL Preview to open the editing options.
Update the link preview as needed:
Change the image: Upload a new thumbnail that better fits your brand or campaign.
Edit the title: Replace the default link title with your own custom text.
(Optional) Remove the URL from your post text while keeping the link card visible.
Delete the link from the post text — the preview card will remain attached to your post.
This allows you to publish a cleaner-looking post without showing the actual URL.
Click Schedule Post or Publish Now once your link card looks the way you want.
Troubleshooting
Preview edits not saving
Refresh the composer and reapply your edits. Some preview changes only appear after saving the post.
Preview disappears after removing the link
If the link card disappears, re-paste the URL, let the preview generate, then delete the link text again. The card should remain.
